Complete one test in each subject (Maths, Reading, Abstract Reasoning) under timed conditions. Don't prepare beforehand — this baseline reveals which components are strongest and which need attention. Review every solution together, noting common error patterns.
Use the remaining 12 tests over 7 weeks (roughly 2 per week). Spend more time on weaker components. After each test, review detailed solutions carefully — understanding why an answer is correct builds transferable reasoning skills. Abstract Reasoning often shows the most improvement with practice.

The HAST (Higher Ability Selection Test) is administered by ACER and used by over 50 Australian schools for selective entry at Year 8, 9, and above.
