What is ASET?
The Academic Selective Entrance Test (ASET) is the statewide test used to select students for WA Government Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance programs. Developed by ACER, it assesses cognitive abilities across four key areas. Understanding the ASET examination structure is crucial for effective preparation. The test is designed to assess cognitive abilities rather than curriculum knowledge, making it essential to develop strong reasoning skills across all four components. Students who excel in ASET typically demonstrate consistent performance across Reading, Writing, Quantitative, and Abstract Reasoning sections, as each component contributes equally to the final Total Standard Score (TSS).
