If Abstract Reasoning is your child's weakest area, dedicate extra practice time to it. Abstract Reasoning typically improves more with practice than any other HAST component.
Save 1–2 tests from each subject for full timed mock sessions in the final month. Simulate exam conditions: quiet room, strict timing, no breaks between sections. Brisbane State High School uses the HAST (Higher Ability Selection Test) for selective entry. Approximately 2,000 students apply for around 280 Year 7 places each year — selection is based on HAST ranking with no waitlist.
