What is Girraween High's reserve list?

Girraween High School's reserve list is the ranked queue the NSW Department of Education works through when a family declines a Year 7 selective placement. Girraween is fully selective on Gilba Road, Girraween, with 120 Year 7 places (60 boys and 60 girls) and no local area intake. When an offered place is declined, the department passes it to the next eligible student on that school's reserve list.

Your dashboard shows one of five outcome types after the 19 August 2026 results release: offer, reserve list, unsuccessful, not applicable, or withdrawn. A reserve-list outcome means your child remains in the running for Girraween as vacancies open. The reserve band estimates call-in order from when students in a similar position were offered at that school in the prior year. It is not a test score and not a published rank.

The department has published a reserve decision date of 3 December 2026, and reserve offers may continue to the end of Term 1 of the entry year. How does the Department describe Band F at Girraween?

Band F is the deepest reserve band. On the official Year 7 reserve-list bands page, Band F is described as unlikely to receive an offer. We do not soften that wording or turn it into a percentage. An unlikely band is still a listed position, but plan as though an offer may not arrive.

In the 2024 and 2025 NSW Selective rounds we tracked, Band F offers were rare and, when they came, landed in the final weeks of December. That is our cross-school observation, not a Girraween-specific 2026 forecast and not a guarantee for 2026. Who lists Girraween in the Hills corridor preference stack?

The Hills corridor preference stack is the ordered list of Western Sydney selective schools — including Girraween High School, Baulkham Hills High School and Penrith High School — that families often rank together on their NSW Selective application. In our census of parent discussion around results week (19–21 August 2026), we counted five posts and 59 comments touching Girraween reserve-list coordination, offer pooling, and preference stacking with those schools. We report those themes as our editorial context only. The department publishes no per-school preference-volume figure.

A child can hold a reserve band at Girraween while holding a different outcome at another selective school. Declining an offer passes the place to the next eligible student on that school's reserve list only. Declining cannot be reversed, and withdrawing from a reserve list cannot be reversed either.

Families who listed Girraween below another Hills school they ranked higher often land on Girraween's reserve list when the higher preference did not convert. Those rows are historical readings, not a 2026 forecast. Reserve bands reflect how parents declined offers at each school in the prior year, so Girraween's weekly log can differ from the department's statewide A–F calendar estimates.

What can you do while waiting on the Girraween reserve list?

Waiting on the Girraween reserve list means keeping backup enrolment confirmed while monitoring reserve-band movement on the NSW DoE dashboard until the published decision date of 3 December 2026. Staying listed costs nothing under the department's published mechanics; withdrawing is free but final.

1. Read the dashboard band and preference order. Note which school each reserve band applies to.
2. Keep backup enrolment active. Confirm acceptance deadlines at your backup school before you assume a Girraween offer will arrive.
3. Check the tracker for your band. Filter Girraween and your band on the reserve list tracker to see when prior-year offers landed.
4. Set a decision date before 3 December 2026. Many families choose an earlier personal cutoff so Term 4 planning stays stable.
5. Decline or withdraw only when you mean it. Both actions are irreversible on the dashboard.

You decide how long waiting remains reasonable. Across NSW Selective schools in 2024 and 2025, we observed Band A offers typically within the first fortnight, Band B from late September through late October, Band C from mid-October through late November, Band D through November into mid-December, and Bands E–F in the final weeks of December. That is our observation from selective-reserve-band-movement, not a guarantee for 2026.
