A balanced preparation bundle covering all four ASET components with vocabulary support. Enough material for 6 months of consistent practice.
Complete one test in each of the three multiple-choice subjects plus one writing prompt. Review solutions carefully to identify which components are strongest and which need the most attention. Pay special attention to Abstract Reasoning — it has the tightest time pressure (20 minutes for 35 questions) and is often the most unfamiliar component.
With 15 core multiple-choice tests and 5 writing prompts, plan for roughly 2 tests per week over 6 months. Rotate through Reading, Quantitative Reasoning, and Abstract Reasoning. Space the 5 writing prompts across the 6 months — one every 5–6 weeks with careful model response comparison. Start the Vocabulary course alongside (3 lessons per week).
After 4 weeks of balanced practice, adjust the balance. If Abstract Reasoning is unfamiliar, spend proportionally more time on those tests. If Reading Comprehension needs work, increase reading practice and vocabulary lessons. The vocabulary courses strengthen both Reading and Writing performance simultaneously.
The ASET takes approximately 2 hours across four components. In the final 4–6 weeks, practise completing multiple sections back-to-back under timed conditions. Time management is especially critical for Abstract Reasoning (about 34 seconds per question). Build up gradually to full-length timed practice.
The Academic Selective Entrance Test (ASET) is administered by ACER for entry to Perth Modern School and GATE programs across Western Australia. It covers four components: Reading Comprehension (35 questions, 35 minutes), Quantitative Reasoning (35 questions, 35 minutes), Abstract Reasoning (35 questions, 20 minutes), and Communicating Ideas in Writing (25 minutes). Each component generates a standard score that contributes to the Total Standard Score (TSS) used for ranking.
The Ultimate Pack covers all four components with 5 tests per multiple-choice section and 5 writing prompts with feedback. This provides enough repetition to become genuinely comfortable with the ASET format and pacing. The vocabulary courses strengthen two components simultaneously — Reading Comprehension (understanding passage vocabulary) and Writing (more varied word choices).
