How is Year 5 NAPLAN delivered in 2027?
Year 5 completes all four NAPLAN domains online: Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy. Year 3 is the only year level that sits writing on paper. ACARA states the year-level delivery split on what's in the tests and in the writing-test FAQ.
Writing (online). Your child types a narrative or persuasive practice response on the school device. Years 3 and 5 share ACARA's primary writing-prompt band (distinct from Years 7 and 9).

- Year 5 completes all four domains online, including writing. We suggest a slightly longer session (about 20–25 minutes per domain) and reading work that leans toward inference with evidence. Years 3 and 5 still share ACARA's primary writing-prompt band, distinct from Years 7 and 9.
- Is Braintree Coaching Australia's Year 5 library an official NAPLAN paper?
- No. It is a small in-house Year 5 library: distinct Reading, Language Conventions and Numeracy sets plus a separate online writing task. It is not a full NAPLAN exam, not a recycled Year 3 pack, and not an official ACARA paper. ACARA publishes older full papers (2012–2016) on the NAP site; those pre-date the current online format.
- How should we use practice tests at home?
- Sit one Year 5 online domain set for about 20–25 minutes (our suggestion, not an ACARA timing). After marking, ask your child why a plausible wrong option looked tempting. One skill to revisit is enough before the next session. This library is not a full exam.
