What transfers from Kumon, WEMT or Pre-Uni to the selective test?

Anything that mirrors the published test shape transfers. That includes marked Writing under time pressure (one typed open response in 30 minutes, two examiners), full computer-based practice in the official format (the test runs on NSW Department of Education computers; PDF samples alone are older paper format), and balanced work across Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills and Writing at 25% each per the practice tests page.

We observed in our 2025 selective cohort that fortnightly full computer-based mocks in the final term were the step tutors most often credited before outcomes day. That is a programme observation, not a placement guarantee.

What does not transfer from early arithmetic or mock ranks?

Early arithmetic drill does not transfer as a complete selective plan. The test has no standalone Verbal Reasoning section. Mathematical Reasoning is 35 questions in 40 minutes with no calculator; Thinking Skills is 40 questions in 40 minutes. We frame this as our observation, not a departmental rule.
